The Timmins medical community serves a catchment area population of 110,000, including patients from remote and urban First Nations communities.
Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is the largest hospital in the area, and handles nearly three times the patient transfers of other medium-sized hospitals in the province. Operating 225 beds, TADH provides a wide range of medical, surgical, critical care, maternity, newborn, pediatric, long-term care, and mental health services, along with district-wide educational opportunities.
The hospital employs over 1,000 staff members, in addition to 88 physicians (42 family physicians and 46 specialists), 140+ locum physicians, six NOSM University Comprehensive Community Clerkship Students, and seven NOSM University Family Medicine Residents.
